Tarun Ajjrapu

Programmer, Entrepreneur, CS Student @ UT Austin and a minor in Business with skills in Web Development, Cloud, and more. I solve problems in my local community and beyond utilizing my knowledge of technology.

As a computer scientist I've spent time exploring everything from cloud computing to multithreading. I also love to tinker, modify, and build whatever I program. I have a knack for being able to quickly understand a complex problem from the ground up and can easily become engrossed in an interesting project. I am especially interested in Web Applications, API Development, and Fintech. I push myself to learn more and more everyday.

Experience

Stripe - Incoming Software Engineer Intern

May 2025 - August 2025

JPMorgan Chase & Co. - Software Engineer Intern

June 2024 - August 2024

• Designed and implemented a full-stack virtual assistant using Python Flask, Java Spring Boot, React JavaScript, MongoDB, Sklearn, and NLTK to assist users in implementing our team’s API.
• Developed APIs to parse user input for keywords and scrape Confluence pages in real-time, leveraging natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including lemmatization, and named entity recognition (NER).
• Implemented machine learning techniques, such as cosine similarity, and a deep learning reinforcement algorithm to compare input keywords to scraped information, improving future search results based on user ratings and achieving a 74% success rate in resolving user questions.
• Stored scraped data on MongoDB and set up a cron job to periodically scrape and update information, ensuring the assistant has the most current data.

Trend Micro - Software Engineer Intern

June 2023 - August 2023

• Developed Python-based REST APIs hosted on AWS Lambda to streamline the Business Intelligence (BI) telemetry scan process for retrieving Stack (Security VPC) settings and NSVA (Network Security Virtual Appliances) information from AWS resources, resulting in a 40x reduction in API response time.
• Consolidated over 100 individual calls per client every 30 minutes into a streamlined process for retrieving stack information in a single request.
• Leveraged the boto3 library to interact with AWS services and efficiently collect and aggregate data from AWS resources in production.
• Migrated a Security VPC into an AWS EC2 instance connect using Terraform, resulting in a 56% reduction in cost and a 28% improvement in network security posture.

Interests

Apart from being a web developer, I enjoy most of my time being outdoors. I enjoy tennis, climbing, running and skiing.

One of my favorite activities is developing games. From a young age, I developed an interest for coding in order to develop my own online game. From there my passion for coding only grew over time and led me to pursue a degree in computer science and a career in software engineering.

When forced away from my laptop, I follow a number of sci-fi and fantasy genre movies and television shows, I am an aspiring chef, and I spend a large amount of my free time exploring the latest technology advancements and news in robotics, programming, and trading.
